Hello all,
My husband and I are thinking of buying a 55 reg Peugeot 307 1.6 HDI 110 and were just wondering if anyone has any experience of these cars (good or bad) as it wasn't our first choice (our first choice is a Golf but they are so much more expensive!). Also, we will have negative equity on our current car (a passat Sport TDI) if the dealer takes it in part ex so we want to make sure the Peugeot is a good car before we take on a loan for the car plus another £1500 of negative equity.
Thanks
Taliwllow

My advice - don't go for a 307.
On a personal level, I drove one of these last week as a hire car from work and thought it was appauling. It was the 1.4 model, but it felt so slow! I drive a 1.4 306 and because the 307 is heavier it was worse than the 306. Didnt like the seating position, dashboard or much about the car at all!
There is a website all about the 307 and how rubbish the car is and how one owner had tons of problems with it and ended up crushing the car - or at least trying to. Had a search but I cant find it. Im sure someone else will post it up or ill keep looking and edit the post.
I wouldn't go with the 307.0 -

Actually it was launched in 2001 and is fast approaching the end of it's planned life! The 307 is probably the worst car the Peugeot have ever produced and even the dealers don't like them because they just keep coming back with problem after problem, like boomerangs. I would suggest that you do a lot more research on the net before buying one of these.

That I am aware of,there isn't a 1.6 HDi.
The engine, which should be the same as my 406,is a 2.0 HDi.

Hello,
Thanks for your responses. It is definately a 1.6HDI. It is fairly new (this car is Nov 05). Think the 1.6 HDI first came out around 2 years ago. Apparently it is more economical than the larger engines.
Various reasons for getting rid of current car. It is getting to the age where we think there is soon going to need lots of money spent on it. There is something wrong with the turbo charger which could possisbly be expensive. It has 127000 miles on it and needs new tyres soon. Also thought we would get a more suitable family car as we hope to start a family in the next couple of years and getting the right car isn't really something I want to be worrying about then. We were looking at a Golf but the extra £5k needed for that could be very handy for other things!

Some truely terrible reviews there!
I know someone who had one as a company car and hated it but I have never driven one myself to comment from a personal experience0 -

Hi,
I wouldnot recommend a 307 if you want relaibility. They suffer a lot of problems.
I have new shape Focus 1.8 Diesel which I love and would recommend. The interior is better in the focus than a Golf in the Zetec Climate and above.
Only downside to the Focus is how much you loose in depreciation compared with cars like the Golf.
Good Luck
