Indeed, you have installed an older version. Recommended as you told us you had Windows ME installed.

The updated version for XP is here: Avast 5

Perhaps you can prepare a Hijack This log before proceeding:
Download, install and run the HijackThis Version 2.0.3 installer and use the Quick Start guide to enable you to produce a log for posting here

meh, dont fuss your self, although we might not agree with each other sometimes on these boards as to whats the best cause of action, everyone does try and help and most people do realise that not everyone is quite as techie as ourselves
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
  • Thanks - I'm all set now. My shiny new laptop arrived yesterday - ahead of schedule thanks to Ebuyer and I'm very happy with it and now have avast installed on it too so feeling much more secure.

I have to say I'm very impressed with my new toy (was a friends recommendation) and think it will be just perfect for a non-techy like me:)

I aslo can't believe that when I bought it on Monday it cost £475 and now has gone up in price. That makes me even happier!
