celeron over dual core?......
Depending on budget, yes. (Dual core to write letters? No.)
Come back when you've actually used a Celeron-M based machine, until then you cannot comment on them. They are nothing like Celeron used to be.0 -

Who said i havent used a celeron-m machine? For the extra £100 your getting the extra processing power that will prob let you get away with VISTA! and the graphics capable of gaming/serious graphics apps
if your after budget, then look at dabs, lots of offers there for £350+, not £5000 -
Celeron-M based on Pentium-M remember. Not bad CPUs at all.0

It's obvious that you havent, by the way you speak about them.
This Celeron-M based machine I am typing on at the moment will run Vista by the way, so your point about the dual core machine being Vista ready is irrelevant.0 -

Up until recently ive used a various amount of laptops for school networks including p4s/centrinos/celerons-ms so to say ive never used one is useless.
Have you run your machine using vista rc1? if you have and it runs smoothly then give me your spec and ill look into it. I may be interested in getting one of similar spec if it is less than £600 and good battery life.
If you want a budget machine there are plenty available, but if you were willing to spend £500 on a machine from PCWorld, its wise to save up another £100 to get a top spec model.0 -
I am interested in a REALLY cheap laptop. All I want is
a: wireless connection, and the capability to browse at a reasonable pace
b: to be able to play Champ Manager 97/98 on it, which I presume you can on any laptop.
Where should I look? The refurbed market? OR cheap new ones?0 -
holy flurking schmidt!
its a GOOD price, you can not get anywhere near the performance of this anywhere else
i would watch out for the battery life, and the weight, both prolly crap, BUT, this WILL play modern games!
im gutted, i just bought a lappy for 550 quid and its nowhere near as good as thismoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)
