Please can you help me -

I have bought a Nokia 5800 and want to use it to get on the internet and also its sat nav function but sadly neither seem to work at all !!

The Sat Nav says 'not enough memory to start the application' even though there is virtually nothing on the phone !!!!

Whereas the internet doesn't work because it can't connect - it offers me the following
1. Search for wlan or
2. Wap services 02 active (I am on vodafone !!!)

I am a real 'phone numpty' but would dearly like both of these to work !!

Any help would be much appreciated and is thanked for in advance !!
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

  • Ok. Firstly go to your settings/connectivity/destinations.
make sure they are all set up in the right locations ie: wap under vodafone wap....multimedia under your MMS and internet under your wifi
Once all this is set up then go to INTERNET on the main menu. press cancel if it goes to connect to the internet. Go to options/settings/general/ access point. check this to always ask then come out of that.
Your maps would be best to stick a memory card in the slot. Then download the maps from ovi on the pc once you connect your phone via the data cable. Then when you do use the maps it wont cost you to go onto the internet to get access to the maps as you will already have them installed in the phone.
let me know how you get on
:A click the THANK YOU button if you think i have helped :A

Hi Virtualgirl and thanks for responding,
Ok. Firstly go to your settings/connectivity/destinations.

Once all this is set up then go to INTERNET on the main menu. press cancel if it goes to connect to the internet. Go to options/settings/general/ access point. check this to always ask then come out of that. I shall try that once I have done the above

let me know how you get on - Not very well, sorry !

I am really into all my tech but have never found phones appealing, hence my lack of savvi with this !

I have only bought this as my old mobile was on its last legs after I had dropped it once too often.

Thanks for your help so far.

As your phone is still on the 02 settings you need to change them to the settings here...

Hi Ged, thanks for your help.

I do have a little bit of confusion - how do I know which one to use - internet or wap settings ?

Try holding down the main menu button to bring up your active applications and close a few before opening Maps.

If that doesn't work you might be saving things to the phone instead of the memory card. Go in Applications>File mgr and it will show you how many MB you have left in your phone memory.

I have 73mb of memory left (out of 81mb) so it's not as though I am filling it up !!
