In 2007 i was convicted for an offense involving moral turpitude.
i stupidly broke a window...
now i want to travel to US but the ESTA site ask me about my conviction.
i dont want to check this box.
what is my chance to pass the control ?
or rather should i ask for a visa but i know that it will not be granted.

By moral turpitude do you actually mean criminal damage.
I have never heard the term you used before.
Did you get a fine or what.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Have a search on this forum about ESTA it has been asked a lot with lots of different crimes.
It wasn't a jewelers window was it?0 -

"act of baseness, vileness or depravity in the private and social duties which a man owes to his fellowmen, or to society in general, contrary to the accepted and customary rule of right and duty between man and man."
It's a vague concept where adultery is "moral turpitude", hitting someone and hurting them may not be.0 -

And in this case they look at "baseness and depravity" in the case of malicious mischief, or if it was "inherently base or depraved" if it was "damaging private property without intent".
Off to the embassy to decide that little one IMO.i dont want to check this box.
You beleive its a CiMT, so you can only tick that box.should i ask for a visa but i know that it will not be granted.
How do you know this. We are not aware of the value of the damage, if its your only arrest, your present status, whether petty offenses would apply etc etc0 -
Simple solution: visit Canada instead.0

Hes criminally inadmissable there as well, although Canada do recognise the UK rehabilitation of offenders act, hes not rehabilitated for another 2 years if he was done as an adult.
Prior to that he would have been criminally inadmissable for 10 years from the end of any probation period, as its a hybrid offense.
If the OP ever gets back here, what age were you at the time.0 -
It's entirely up to you and your conscience of course, but unless you are on a no-fly list for acts of terrorism, sexual offences, murder, armed robbery or the like, there's no way US immigration would know that you were convicted of breaking a window. Over 99% of applicants are accepted immediatley, they do not check every single application against the PNC.
However, they can pull you aside for any reason they wish, the mere fact that you know you have not told the entire truth on your ESTA application may make you nervous and appear guilty. If you are refused entry for ommitting information you will never be allowed to enter the US again.
The choice is yours.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

And in steps The High Value Data Sharing Protocol which will put paid to that one soon enough. May only affect a few at the moment, but theres nothing to prevent full rollout.peachyprice wrote: »If you are refused entry for ommitting information you will never be allowed to enter the US again.
That would have to be willful misrepresentation, which would mean having to obtain a waiver of inadmissability.0 -

I believe OP is asking about the here and now, not what might or might not happen in the future?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Its happening now, although not to a great extent at the moment. However, when it is rolled out more then it will hit those who have previously lied on the VWP.
OP knows he can't use the VWP but iis just looking for someone to agree that he should chance it.what is my chance to pass the control ?0
