Thinking of getting one of these for my Canon MP460. Does anyone have recommendations?
It is just for home use - cardmaking, printing out documents, articles etc, occasional photos.
Also, if I buy one type, can I put any brand of CISS ink into it?

I can't comment on the MP460 CISS, but I have been using one in both my Canon printers for the last couple of years without any issue. I've used ink from two different places when I've needed to fill up.0

Where did you get them and how much were they? Not sure if I need to spend £20 on one or £60??0

What is the print quality like for photos using CISS, my dad has an IP4200 and goes thru ink like it's going out of fashion. He got some non genuine cartridges for it but now photos look plop.Nothing to see here, move along.0

My canon CISS (including an IP4200) I have bought from here http://www.cityinkexpress.co.uk/ I've also bought an epson one from them, and an epson one from here https://www.continuousink.com/home.html
I've had no problems with any of them, and I can't tell the difference in print quality from the original cartridges. I print calendars with A4 photos (fundraising for a charity) which just wouldn't be feasible without one. If the print quality was poor, I wouldn't be able to sell the calendars. Continousink have recently revamped the products they sell and they look a bit expensive. Also check what's available on ebay as although cityink were the cheapest at the time I bought, the prices have gone up a bit and the products they sell look very similar to those available elsewhere.
It can be a bit of a hassle setting a CISS up and getting it working (I've had four - two have worked straight out of the box, two have required a little fiddling). Once that is done the only thing to remember is not to let the ink level in the reservoirs run too low.0 -
Thank you Shimrod. I was looking for a reliable testament, as I am about to buy one myself. Very impressed to read about the calendars. The quality must be excellent (more than I need) to be able to print those.

I cannot see how they are cheaper0

I got the bit about buying bulk ink, not the bit about paying £80 for a system that only has the equivalent of 2.64 sets of compatibles.
That is based on this ink system
http://www.continuousink.com/product/iris-epson-stylus-photo-px650
And these compatibles at £13:80 for 3 sets
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18-Ink-Cartridges-P50-PX650W-PX700W-PX800FW-PX810W-/220644523970?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_Printing_PrinterInkCatridges_JN&hash=item335f703fc2
Or equivalent to £12:14 for 2.64 sets
For £81 you can get 20 sets which is a lot of printing and some printers have stopped working before needing 20 sets
The 1 litre refill pack at £297 is equivalent to 316 cartridges (6000ml divided by 19ml)
The same number of cartridges would cost £2140 -
I have also heard how good CISS is. a shop that I used to work at used it for printing etc. The prints were really good and the ink pots lasted yonks.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

Have used a CISS for an Epson printer.... most the time it was reasonable but did (a) buy one set of inks where the colour reproduction was then way off and (b) had a user error by putting the inks too high and obviously the whole lot drained into the printer.
After the second episode I switched to back to buying generic cartridges again as it was a pain having to have the lid of the printer a little open and was noisy etc and for the level of printing I was doing paying £1ish per cartridge was sufficiently cheap.0
