Toddler haircut nightmare

I too would stop using the clippers at home and take him to a good barbers that use scissors. My son is the same with clippers - I think I would be too! lol! - but with scissors he sits fine.
Bribery can work but it sounds like he is building up a genuine fear and this will only escalate each time is it done to him.0 -
I now take DS here http://www.spikesandcurls.com/. They only do children's hair and are really really good with small frightened children.
He is now cured of his hair cut phobia, he gets to sit in a fire engine or a plane to have his haircut and watch TV, gets hair gel and a lolly.
They also have a cheapish toy shop in the front and if he manages to not cry he gets a present.
Lovely idea thanks but too far for us
I doubt that taking him to the hairdresser would be any different as he is the same whether we use the scissors or the clippers. Scissors are much more dangerous to use with him than the clippers, he would end up with cuts and scratches all over the place and I would hate to take him to the hairdresser - and the poor man/woman ends up snipping his ear or something through no fault of their own.
Long hair is not an option for him as stated previously. he just has the type of hair where it would not work at all.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
Tell him hes is a BIG boy now like his daddy , and get your husband to take him with him next time he goes for a trim :j0

The only way to find out whether it would make any difference taking him to a hairdresser or barber is to take him!0

Yes you are right, its got to be worth a try but I am just terrified that he will end up with a chopped ear or something because he jerks his head etc when trying to trim his hair or he will end up with scissors embedded in his head. :eek:BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0
