Which browser? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Download and install a free program called CCleaner. It's recognised as almost the de facto standard in cleaning crap (including browser histories) from PC's.
However, if it's your work computer then you are up !!!!!! creek. The IT admin staff are the ones to bribe.
If you don't want your browser remembering which sites you visit:
On IE8 use "InPrivate Browsing" you'll find it under "Safety".
On Chrome use "New incognito window" under "tools" (spanner symbol)
On Firefox use "Start Private Browsing" under "Tools"0 -
turn off autocomplete(ie, tools, internet options, content), and tick delete browsing history on exit under tools internet options!!

Yes - it gives many answers, but unfortunately, not the one Macman is looking for. However, it sounds like you have IE8 (but not sure)Before doing something... do nothing0
