We've got loads of copper pipe after having the central heating ripped out, does anyone know who will buy the stuff and what the going rate is?
Thank you

A scrap metal merchant may want it, and will be able to quote you the going rate....0

Like googlewhacker said try any scrap merchant, copper is about £2,500-£3000 per tonne at the moment. if you got a big copper water heater then that will more than likely give you about £80. I'd also goto the non ferrous section at any scrap merchant too.0

In the meantime, don't leave it out in your garden in public view or it will be gone by tomorrow. Beware those selling clothes pegs and lucky heather!

You'll have to decide if it really is worth your while at iro £2 a kilo and thats for clean stuff. If its dirty and mixed metal then you are looking at half that. Don't forget that technically you'll be needing a waste carriers licence to take it there too.
If you've lots of other stuff to go wait for the !!!!!! to come along and tell 'em you can have the copper if you take that lot as well. They'll beef and moan but it usually works and you've saved yourself the cost of a skip.

A firm on our estate tried that, the !!!!!! took all the rubbish away and I drove past it fly tipped in a field gate for nearly a week before the council cleared it0 -

Note I used the word "technically" because you would be transporting it for profit. In reality noone is going to take much notice of a private individual disposing of gash copper in this way but they might if you were moving it in a van. There are picky little jobsworths out on the street stopping vans for spot checks for precisely this.scotsman4th wrote: »As a private individual? Is there no exemption?

but probably won't at the price the scrappy will give you for a small amount like the OP will have.;)Canucklehead wrote: »....could pay for a very good night out.;)

Good morning: please note my use of the word 'could' as we have no idea of the weight of the scrap or the OP's definition of a 'very good night out' ... at any rate I would not dissuade the OP from gaining pecuniary advantage from his/her own scrap metal.
In regard to waste disposal, further details on 'duty of care' are available here.
