Switching I-Phone 3G on contact to bought I-Phone 4

Hi all

As the title says.... Is it possible to move my orange contract on a 3g Iphone to a sim-only bought I-Phone 4?

I've still a fair few months before my contract runs out and have no interest in continuing with Orange via an upgrade after it expires but at present I'm tied to it.

This way I can sell the 3G before they depreciate entirely.... :money:

I've just noticed that they use different sized sims so, other than this ,what problems might I face?

Cheers for your help x

Chop down the sim, guides on the net or you can buy a cutter, insert sim in the phone and it should retrieve the settings itself.

What you said is very possible, I would shop around for the best iphone sim only tariff and try use quidco and stuff to get yourself some cashback

As far as the sim is concerned sorry but Do not cut the sim out thats a crazy idea. You can just call orange and ask for a micro sim and they send it to you, if your buying the tariff it will come included anyway. I doubt you will have to pay any sort of a charge for the sim. Or you can ebay one for a coupe of quid.

Also I assume you ment 3gs, if you have a 3gs then dont worry about depreciation! On the early days of the launch of the iphone 4 there was a massive flood of them and some went for cheap however now the value has gone back up and they are selling for very good money at the moment due to demand from abroad. It sells for around 300-350(16 gb 3gs) if its in good nick at the moment. I doubt those values will change anytime soon. If you do have a 3g then the value again wouldn't go down much because its gone down allready and the prices have stabilised already.
  • You can ask for a new micro sim, TBH I can't see why they wouldn't give you one, but if they won't then you can cut the old one. It isn't a crazy idea, it works perfectly well as long as you know what you're doing. There are plenty of guides out there. Then you can continue using your current contract until it expires, and then move to a new sim-only iPhone plan.
  • Cheers all . Duly thanked. Just need to cover some post-wedding costs and I'll sort it.
