I have returned an item for a refund as agreed with the seller. Unfortunately it has now gone missing. It was posted on the 20/08 recorded delivery and has not arrived. This is confrirmed by the seller too.

Unfortunately you'll have to claim yourself through royal mail

my heart sinks whenever i see that message on the rm site.
You could ask the seller to call their local sorting office or give them a call yourself and see if you have any luck,or give it a few more days. RM don't consider an item lost untill 15 days0 -
So do I claim the cost of the item and my return postage? Never had the problem like this before.
What a mess.
How do I go about it? Do I need to inform eBay / paypal?£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

* just to ask another quick eBay question. Is it okay to sent to someone's works address rather than their paypal address?£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

I only send to the address that is on paypal, if the buyer wants something to be sent to their work address they should add that address onto their paypal account to give you seller protection.0 -
I have had that message before even though the buyer has confirmed its been received. So your seller may well have the item but you cant prove it.
If you suspect they have it you could call their bluff and say you have rang Royal Mail who have confirmed delivery.0 -
Why do you think its gone missing?
That message is standard until the day after its delivered & sometimes longer.
It could also mean the person you sent it to refused to sign or hasn't picked it up yet from a failed delivery. Not Again0 -
I would be worried about it as it was sent on 20 August - ten days ago - and has still not been received.1984ReturnsForReal wrote: »Why do you think its gone missing?

There have been serious problems at the Warrington sorting office so if it's gone that route that could be the reason for the delay.Terms & Conditions Apply0

I'm really confused here as OP is the seller, Therefore can't refund anyone?
OP unfortunately that is fairly normal for recorded in some areas it never shows as delivered so as far as paypal are concerned you can't get a refund as seller hasn't got the item back. After 15 working days though you can start a claim with RM and you'll need details of the original amount you paid (so send ebay details) and the recorded slip. Keep copies as the claims often go astray.
There is a good chance seller actually has the item, but unfortunately you will never know.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
