Need Help With MBNA

I've looked at my own MBNA account online.
It is currently showing the August statement, for which I have made a minimum payment, - the payment date was several days ago, so I have complied with everything necessary and am now awaiting the September statement.
The August statement still shows the minimum payment required for that month and the date it needed to reach them.
I cannot see anywhere that it is telling me my next month's minimum payment - it is only telling me what I should have paid in August. Presumably this is in case I hadn't paid it and needed to know how much to belatedly pay.
If, on 1st September (before the September statement is produced), I make another payment by clicking on the "Make a payment" tag then that payment will still be classed as in the August statement period. It will show on the next statement that I have made two payments in August - not one payment for August and another towards the September statement.
If you are making a payment for a specific month, you need to wait until the statement for that month is available, otherwise you will find the payment will be allocated to the earlier month and that no payment will be shown for the month you intended.
Statements show the state of your account on the day they are produced - if you have made two payments since the last statement, it will show both and your next statement will show none (unless you make a third payment subsequently).0 -
Shame they don't deal with late payments the same way!
i.e
Statement issued on the 25th Aug with payment date of 12th Sept. I make a £100 payment on the 24th. It's not classed as the Sept min payment as it was made the day before the statement was issued.
Minimum payment due on Tuesday 11th Sept. I make a payment of £100 on Thursday 7th Sept. Naturally, the payment doesn't go through until the day after it is due and you get charged £12 for a late payment, yet they register the payment in the other case on the day it was made as there's no way they can make money out of you that way through charges!0 -
Double standards perhaps, but it still helps to follow the rules (as set by them), that way you win rather than them.0

Check the statement date.
Your next statement will be issued approximately one month after the current one, (the exact date might vary one or two days in either direction). If the present statement says ‘August 25th’, the new statement will be issued between September 23rd and 26th. Every statement shows the date it was issued as ‘Statement date‘.
Also, you should be receiving a mail that the new statement has been issued and can be seen on your account.0 -

I know you’re playing………..:D
You cannot put money onto a particular period before that period has begun, which means with the new statement date: you cannot pay now for January 2011.
If you do not receive e-mail notification that the new statement is available, get in touch with MBNA (not with a forum).0 -

Section 7b of the terms says:
We will send you a statement showing the payments you have made to us and all amounts we have charged to your account since your last statement
That means : If you make two payments to the account before the statement is produced, they will show on that statement.
When you get your statement (on-line or otherwise) it tells you that you have to make a minimum payment before a certain date - and it will also show that you may have made two payments in the previous period.
But it quite clearly says on the current statement that you have to pay £xx before a certain date.
You seem to be unable to follow what everyone else is telling you - you need to obey the instructions on your statements - and wait until you get your statement before making another payment intended for the second month.
Taking your argument to its extreme, I could make twelve separate payments to my account in one month - it doesn't then mean that I don't have to pay them again for another year!0 -
The best way to get around any confusion relating to when you should pay is a direct debit for the minimum amount. That way, they will take it out when due. You're free in the meantime to make extra payments whenever you want. I've never found a credit card statement confusing myself though, but I was caught out by making an early payment many many years ago.0
