swapping sim to micro sim on o2

Hi,

I am an existing o2 customer currently on a rolling monthly sim only mobile contract that is not an iphone contract.

I have recently purchased the iphone4 and I would like to keep my current tariff and not pay the overpriced iphone ones.

I have been into my local o2 store and asked for a blank micros sim, they have given me one, however it appears to be a PAYG one.

My questions are:

As this micro sim states that is a pay as you go micro sim will it work if I use the swap my sim feature on the o2 site?

This feature does not specify that the swap my sim function is just for PAYG, nor does it state it is for monthly customers or even specific to iphone customers.

So if I use this swap my sim feature will my current pay monthly sim only contract switch over onto this micro sim?

Will there be any problems with doing this?
For example, will o2 realise that I am not on an iphone tariff and block the micro sim?
Or will the sim not work at all as it says it is a PAYG sim?

Can you go into the o2 store and ask for a blank micro sim for contracts or have I done right and received the correct one?

If anyone can advise on any of these areas I would appreciate it.

Thank you,

Natalie

Most sims are tariff dependant, if it say payg it'll only work as a payg acc. If you try to move you're number on to it you (may) end up transferring to payg. To be sure you'd need to call O2 CS.

Apart from that your plan should work as long as you have a large data plan on your acc and can get a contract micro sim (and some of the networks do make it hard)? Unless someone with more knowledge of O2 comes along ??

(you do know you can just cut your normal sim down to make it fit ?).

I would cut it down to the smaller size rather than faff about trying to get a micro sim from o2. I got a cutter for about £20 but i'd imagine they will become cheaper as more iphone 4s (and ipads) get sold. You can use scissors but less risky to use a sim cutter.

I cut my Vodafone Data Sim down to fit into my iPad and it works fine.

You can either buy a sim cutter off ebay for about £12 or down load a micro sim template so you can cut it for free, but if you do it wrong....

    I used a sim cutter
