Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for 29th August 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.

Morning everyone.
Clearly you all have better things to do like having a lie in!
Weather not looking as promising as the weather man said. Even had rain yesterday and lots of dull grey cloud. Hope it stays dry so I can at least cut the lawn.
Hardly got anything done yesterday so got it all planned for today. More washing (does this stuff breed itself or what?!), baking etc. Very exciting.......
Tea tonight will be beef for me and the kids and chicken breast for H.

Off swimming this morning so that should keep the kids quiet for some of the day ;)

Hugs for thos that need them. Have a lovely Sunday OS or not.
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.

    Good Morning!

Spent last night making a shopping list ready for when I get paid on tuesday, and managed to get enough stuff for a corned beef pie, fruit pie (using free fruit!), cottage pie, malt bread, lasagne, and batch of Twink's hobnobs (plus some new storage tubs) and I spent less than £18!!!!!! That is enough for at least 15 meals for me, so i'm extremely pleased!
Going to my boyfriend's house today - his mum is away for the bank holiday, and he just bought Lego Harry Potter for his playstation 3, so we are going to have a couple of days playing computer games and eating junk food no doubt :) my favourite way to spend a bank holiday weekend :) :j:j:j
Not back at work until wednesday, so very very pleased about that!

Weather is looking chilly and windy in South Shields today - time to dig out the wooly jumpers I think! :snow_laug I love autumn and winter - its the best time of year! edit - its just started pouring with rain! another edit - its now bright but cloudy but the foghorn on the cliffs (I live next to Souter Lighthouse) is going off like crazy - its very loud!)

I hope everyone has a great bank holiday weekend :)
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j

  • With thanks to Bitsy Beans for starting today's thread.

I didn't think today was meant to be nice weather-wise but it's looking lovely. The sky from the study window is perfectly blue with not a cloud to be seen! I did notice that it's very windy when I let the cats out though so who knows what will be blown in?

Forgot to take today's meals out of the freezer last night so they'll have to be defrosted in the nuke-ro-wave when it's time to eat. The fish I hoped to cook yesterday hadn't defrosted enough so I'll be doing that today in the SC. Was meant to be meeting a friend for coffee today but I don't think it's going to happen as I've not heard from her so today will be a quiet day with just Church to look forward to this evening.

Hope your day is OS and MSE :)

Hya everyone, and thanks bitsy for starting the thread.
Hugs to all who need them.
Was great seeing the sun yesterday, so got lots of washing dry on the line and the lawn mowed:)
Had bacon and cabbage for dinner yesterday so made lentil soup with the bacon water and lo veggies. Having roast chicken today with runner beans and spuds from garden for 8 of us. Will then make chicken soup with carcass and all leftovers.
DGS1 picked his own cucumber from the polytunnel and also picked a melon. The melons are very small but very tasty and sweet, the DGSs all love them.
Need to pick all the tomatoes that are ready and make more passata and salsa for the freezer. Every time I make the passata DH, DD2 and I eat half of it as tomato soup so my vision of being self sufficient in tomatoes this year is fading fast:)
Cheers all, hope you all have a good bank holiday Sunday
