Orange harvest mites

  • I'm not convinced that the Frontline Spot On worked on my doglet - she's got new ones on her face and between her toes. It's not actually licenced for use as a harvest mite treatment but our vet said 'it'll probably work', yet I read on other forums that only the spray works! Not sure what the cat equivalents are, sorry.

Jollymaria - you'll need to wash all your bedding, and your cats bedding on a v hot wash, apparently that's the only way to get rid of the blighters.

I actually had one IN me the other day, in a bite in the crook of my arm! We've found that avon skin so soft repels them from us and Tilly too!

A cocktail of Neem products - mite shampoo, pet lotion and neem oil - are my last hope! Ordered yesterday, hoping it arrives today!

Harvest mites here too. Our poor cat has them all around his throat and neck!

The vet recommended rubbing them with olive or vegetable oil which will suffocate them and then spot spray with frontline, the drops are not good.

You need to use Frontline spray, not the spot-on, to effectively treat harvest mites. It's prescription only though I'm afraid so you will need to speak to your vet.

I've seen little red things like tiny spiders but bright red...not actually on my dogs but when I've been brushing them I've noticed them scuttling around on the paving stones. Can't really see them on the picture so can't compare them to what I've seen.

I've never heard of harvest mites though.
