Refused credit for a new mobile phone contract?
Comments
-
I tried to get a vodafone sim only deal for my son at £10 a month. Cheaper by far than PAYG.
I was declined on credit scoring.
Homeowner, credit cards used actively, 0% loan on suite, existing vodafone contract etc, aqueaky clean credit history etc.
Check the credit file (free Experian 30 days, £5 cashback from TopCashback, then cancelled it) - spiffingly good.
Bemused but simply took the business elsewhere with no problems at all.
And then my daughter's contract with Vodafone moved. And my wife's. And mine! I enjoyed moving a significant part of our family outgoings away from them

An iphone 4

I thought so. Was he trying to get the iPhone 4 for Free on the £45 per month tariff?
A handset only iPhone 4 from an Apple store would cost £499 for the basic 16GB version so Three are in theory handing your OH a 500 quid handset on the promise he will pay at least £45 for 2 years (£1080). When you add up the numbers a bigger risk factor comes in.
Some say that the credit check is the same for all, but I'm sure the risk is smaller on a £10 Sim Only plan than it is on £1580 package.0 -
I myself have been with 3 on contract for about 9 month's, got a decent phone with them (approx £300 to buy) About 2 weeks ago they rang me up to offer me a brand new Acer laptop and dongle at £17.50 a month, plus a month free.
He said I'll have to go through a credit check with you, took my details as though I was a new customer, came back declined, and I was already a customer:eek:
Was told not to worry, he rang me back and said the laptop was on its way! Like my OH I checked with Experian, no credit search done?
I simply cannot understand their credit checking, I've got the laptop and really pleased, but their checks are so strange.
Infact I may write to their head office and get an explanation.
I was with orange for many years, with them you could add other products on, going off your account behaviour.
Before I left (due to a move and poor signal) I was offered an iphone and free broadband!!!!!
Very odd with 3:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

According to Experian they did the credit check.
We've just both recently renewed our car insurance and home insurance so did a few searches before we found the correct one. Could this affect it??
The only thing he has outstanding are our mortgage and car loan which are both up to date with no payments missed.
As said before he NEVER had any problem before this and has never had anything declined in the past.
He's currently with O2 and is just thinking about upgrading with them so it should go through ok.0 -

I know, when you look at it like that it is a bit steep, but paying it over a lot of months feels 'better'
Won't be getting one in a hurry now anyways by the looks of things.0 -
