iPhone 4 on Orange: harassment texts
Hi All,
I am still a newbie on these forums so please be gentle with me. I have two problems here:
First
I bought a new iPhone 4 on Orange on 10 June (from CarphoneWarehouse), and subsequently also got Applecare direct from Apple a few days later, which I registered to the phone. The first phone arrived through the post with a cracked back and I took this back to CPW (after much arguing with them), and received a new replacement.
Have called Apple today to transfer over the Applecare from the old phone to the new one, but they say they are unable to do this as I didn't take the faulty phone back to them. CPW told me I did not need to do this as I had purchased said item from them. Apple have told me I will receive a pro-rata refund - minus the postage paid!!! - and will need to buy a new Applecare pack for my new phone. This seems unfair to me; is there anything I can do to force them to transfer it over?
Second
Since receiving my new phone, I have been plagued with texts and phonecalls for someone called 'Richard' by Vanquis bank and their associated in-house collection agency. They are phoning me, sometimes as much as 6 times per day, claiming that I owe them money. At first I called them back to say that I wasn't this person, I had a new phone which had obviously been previously allocated to their client, and please could they remove me from their database. After that the calls increased dramatically, and I am now getting calls and texts from their in-house collection service - Impact Collection - which I have been ignoring.
My question is: I have not provided Vanquis with my address, nor Impact Collection - do they know where I live and will they try to send bailiffs round? The error is on Orange's part, not mine. After reading many Vanquis posts on here, I am glad I have not provided any personal details to them!
Short of Orange allocating me a new number, is there anything else I can do to stop these? As Apple are still in the process of sorting out my Applecare, I am reluctant to have a new number until that is all done and dusted - one less thing to complicate matters.
Any advice or information you can give me would be much appreciated.
Cheers
