Agreed, ignore OPC as they have no right to extort this money from you.
In very rare occasions, do be aware that OPC have been silly enough to issue real Court papers but have lost something like a dozen cases already this year. Anyone who ever gets Court papers from OPC should just post about it on pepipoo forums for a solid defence:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30
But don't worry about it, please, 99% of the time they just send the usual threatograms from debt collectors which you can just ignore and it will have no effect on your credit rating at all.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have now seen the letter, and yes it is indeed looked after by OPC
I have taken a pic (sorry for the quality of the first picture). If you open in original size, should be able to read what it says.
However, it stated we parked there on 5th April.....but the letter was issued only yesterday!!!! 27th August. Why has it taken them nearly 5 months to send it out?
We are thinking of going to the police about this? Any ideas on this?

No, it's a civil matter and the Police are not interested.
Please just ignore it, like you would if you received a series of phishing emails. As per my advice above, only sit up and take notice if OPC file Court papers which will just mean you'll need the pepipoo defence (it always sees off OPC on the odd occasion they try their luck).
And they CANNOT add fees to take the amount up to £400 so don't believe a word of that! They have also said that the owner/keeper is responsible (you are not, it's only remotely possible to accuse the driver of contravening the rules, no-one else, and they don't know who the driver was and you do not legally have to tell them).
As well as them making no attempt to ask who the driver was, they have also given you no chance of appeal either (not that they would allow appeals of course). But what I mean is, you need to keep all this paperwork just in case a judge ever got involved and this rubbish is very useful for you.
It would be easy for a judge to make a decision about the unfairness of this alleged contract - OPC cannot prove the time of arrival/departure, they have made no loss, there was no damage, you never overstayed, they don't have the right to fine you, they are not the landowner anyway so have no right to pursue you (blah blah ad infinitum!).PRIVATE 'PCN'? Spot the deliberate mistake in the letter from OPC stating that as the owner, keeper or driver of the vehicle you are responsible for adhereing to the terms and conditions of parking there.
WRONG!!!
The so called contract only actually exists with the driver which may or may not have been yourself0 -
Don't bother with police. All you will get is the standard answer "it's a civil matter, nothing to do with us guv". Your best plan is to ignore OPC except in the very unlikely event that you get proper(endorsed) court papers. If you do then your best bet is to go over to Pepipoo where there are legally qualified people who will help you. But don't worry it probably won't happen. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Thanks everyone for all your advice.
I dont understand why it has taken them 5 months to send the letter!!!!0 -

Probably because they have been in court lately losing a dozen cases! Even amongst the limited intelligence of PPCs, they are not the sharpest knifes in the box. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
One reason may be that if they leave it long enough you may well forget why you were there etc and just pay up.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I've been waiting for LPS to send me their threatograms for over 3 months now, euro are so much moere efficient in their scam, it took them only a fortnight lolExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Still waiting for the Euro one, a good year down the line. So have to disagree with the above.0
