Laptop problems

Options
Laptop is fine apart from the power adapter jack...i think it's broken inside....was going to open it and try looking to see where it's damaged, and if a repair is possible...but when i opened it..the only place i couldn't get near was the part i think is broken.....i didn't want to force any of the parts incase i broke them....so was wondering if there was somewhere that i could find some kind of schematic to show me. I'ts a fujitsu siemens amilo li1705...other than that...can anyone think of any other ways to run it without the power supply...i do have a battery, but obviously I cant afford to keep putting batteries in it every time they run out.

dc jack socket you will get off ebay for about £5 quite easy to do if you can do fine soldering main thing is to lay every thing out on the table as you take it apart but you will need to strip completely to get to the socket,

have a search on ebay, search for dc jack sockets and you might find some one that sells the socket with some instructions,

There's a link here for repairing DC jack sockets on laptops but it does not seem to list disassemly instructions for your laptop.

    http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/12/06/dc-power-jack-repair-guide/

If you are not confident doing the repair yourself then get someone who is.

May be worth checking youtube if there are any disassembly vids?

I had the same problem last year, one person said it was the power Jack and another said it was the AC Adapter, I rang Maplins and they said before I buy anything I could take the Lappy and the powere cable to them and they tried a new Cable for me and it worked fine so it was the AC adapter in the middle of the power cable that had packed up not the power jack.

    Drinda,

Thanks for that. I have however tried a new cable, and it's not working :-(

I still can't find anywhere that will show me how to take this thing apart, and put the new DC connector in. Can anyone else help :-)

Yeah... Telling someone how to do it on a forum is quite hard and TBH, not something I want to do and if you can't figure out how to get the base off, you're likely to !!!!!! up the clips trying. You don't need to put a new DC connector in but merely resolder the existing one back to the motherboard. You can solder, can't you? If you can't, give up now and pay someone as you can make it a whole load worse to the point of being irrepairable. And you need a fine tip low wattage soldering iron or you'll risk lifting the tracks on the printed circuit board.
