I agree with Peachy, obviously nobody likes cold callers trying to sell you stuff but really having a catelogue put through my door doesn't bother me in the slightest, and I find it hard to believe that people really rush to the door whenever they hear something drop. The amount of takeaway/taxi leaflets I get put through a day would mean I would spend most of the day running to the door to see whats turned up!

I'll tell you who does annoy me, Charity collectors, i don't mind the ones with envelopes that you put money in, but the new breed who turn up and try and get all your bank account details off you to set up a direct debit really annoy me!

I put mine in recycle bin doesnt stop them putting more crap in my door

I think cold calling should be banned as clearly morons are unable to read notices regarding cold calling

As for takeaways and the other crap assuming you are there once post has been this may work after PO have been and added security of stopping scum trying to get your keys inside your door which does happen

I think your being a wee bit silly here. All people are saying is how annoying it is to receive more rubbish through the door. Also most normal people when they hear something come through their door will check what it is. I know I don't leave my post for days on end on the floor.

A wee bit silly, or having some perspective? Getting so angry about a catalogue is IMO a wee bit silly

I have a lady near me, very clearly not well off, she's always walking the streets come rain or shine with her Betterware/Avon catalogues and deliveries (someone must buy stuff from her). She always puts a book through my door even though I never buy anything, she's as happy as Larry, always has a chat to my cat and always has a smile on her face. My OH reacts just like Mr. Angry above. But you know, she could be sitting at home on her backside letting everyone else support her, so no, I really don't care if she puts a book through my door, good on her for getting out there and at least trying to earn a living, even if the crap she sells isn't for me.

Thats your take on it other people like you and peachy obvious don't mind, some people do mind thats the way of the world we are all different

If people go out of there way to inform callers of no cold calling or no catalogues is it so hard for the people to understand and respect there wishes, apparently it is then.

Then they wonder why they get a frosty reception and no I dont tell them to pee off although I love too, but I dont like it

We have a potential Council election coming up.
Obviously one of the candidates never did too well at school under his previous Labour Gubberment as he can't read our notice ;)

i just had a dogs trust person knocking on my door. I just ignore it! I am lucky in that I can see who is at my door through my living room window before I decide to answer it or not. I certainly would not give any personal details to anyone knocking my door. If I want to donate, I shall do it in my time and at my convenience!

Similarly, when the betterware/kleeneze catalogues come through my door, what my cat hasnt chewed up (seriously!!) just gets put back on the doorstep for when they come back to collect. Its no hardship to keep it next to the door until the next time i open it

I was working in my front garden when someone delivering leaflets came up to me and said this will save me putting it through your letter box and handed me a leaflet.

Next to me was the paper recycling bin ready to go out on the pavement and I just lifted the lid and put it in the bin.

He said you never even looked at it and you put it in the bin. I said I never look at leaflets put through my door they all go in the bin.

Never had one from him since and he comes round once a week with them. It is a local takeaway.

You should have pointed to the bin and said "while you are at it, save me the bother of putting it in there"

I was away for 8 weeks over the summer - ended up with a binful of junk mail and 23 so-called Charity bags (you know the commercial ones that promise to pay £XX per tonne to named charity!!)

Since coming home I've put a notice on my door - NO junk mail or charity bags - thank you, much to my surprise I've not had any through the letter box since

Though the local free paper deliverer did politely ask me if I included the free paper in Junk Mail - 'NO' I said - quietly thinking that I want the newspaper for my wood burner - :rotfl:!!
