Cold callers

I went to the trouble a few weeks ago of printing off from this site a notice advising we do not buy from cold callers and do not require free advise etc. What do I find yesterday some idiot decided we are in need of their Bettaware catalogue and put one through the door with an order form.
I hasten to add the cold caller notice is in large print and displayed
in a window to the left of the door.

I too get leaflets and put them straight in the bin. However when it clearly states on the notice "we do not buy from the door" you would have thought they would have not left the catalogue.
No doubt they will call back and I will advise them any unsoliciated items go straight in the bin including their catalogue.0 -
We had one from bettaware a few weeks ago, we have a sign up as well. It went in the bin ( that will reach them as they have to pay for the mags)2015 wins £4.00 not mse:(

Just an update. They have not called back to collect the catalogue. However on this occasion and bearing in mind we are living in credit crunch times I have left it outside with a note advising we do not buy from the door and directed them in our notice in the window.
I would have felt guility knowing they had paid for the catalogue and I had just binned it.0 -
I have had a notice for years and I still get cold callers. I also get betterware and Kleenezy
Kleenezy being the of there bunch of rubbish you get as you can get several reps working in same area, Kleenezy dont give a !!!! all there interested in is getting mugs to sign upRupert_Bear wrote: »Just an update. Really, is it worth getting so angry about?
Many people who deliver the Betterware/Kleenezy/Avon catalogues are local people trying to up their income or working from home whilst looking after small children (there's a whole forum on this site dedicated to it). If you don't want to buy anything you don't even need to talk to the person, hardly the same as coldcallers who want to give you the hard sell on your doorstep.
What is the hardship in picking up the booklet and putting it back outside the door for them to collect, or not?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Some people dont want to be bothered at home believe it or not
So the hardship can be dropping what you are doing to get to the door and or disturbing your family life
Example other week painting back door some idiot (I call them that I will explain later) from Southern electric tried to sell me energy. He denied it of course but seeing as I dont get Southern and he had a name badge with Southern on it, I told him I wasnt interested in buying energy before he uttered one word.
Of course he is also is incapable of reading and seeing the notice on the front porch telling him/her no cold callers which I may add I got from Trading Standards.
As for catalogues tried leaving them at the door, but many of these reps who were sold a lie never bother to come back so I end up for days with a soggy mess, the plastic bags do let in water after a while
I appreciate some people might want over priced tat, or dont mind getting hard sell, or phone ringing "are you interested in insurance for your credit card?, blah blah"
But some people dont quite category want things rammed down there throat and would prefer a life at home where they can enjoy tv, relax or whatever without getting nuisance calls, door bell going off or some crappy catalogue
Some even put notices up, or inform companies to leave them alone but it seems our wishes aren't always respected so no wonder they get a hostile reception and rightly so.peachyprice wrote: »Really, is it worth getting so angry about?

Each to thier own obviously.
I agree that coldcallers, who knock on your door trying to sell are something else all together, and should be outlawed. But getting so het up about someone putting a catalogue through a letterbox seems to be an awful waste of energy.
I cannot for the life of me see how that would interfere with family life, unless you CHOOSE to go running to the door to see what has been put through, probably just so you can shout at whoever put it through no doubt.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Buy a dog, teach it to fetch (or attack;)). Problem solvedBack by no demand whatsoever.0

I think your being a wee bit silly here. All people are saying is how annoying it is to receive more rubbish through the door. Also most normal people when they hear something come through their door will check what it is. I know I don't leave my post for days on end on the floor.0
