Help please - moving my contacts/phone book to my new i phone from Samsung phone

I have just got a new i phone 4, my first i phone. The shop moved my contacts from my previous samsung phone (which I still have with PAYG sim now inside) onto i phone.

I had my contacts under first names e.g Sarah mobile or John home. Sarah mobile came under "S". The i phone has made them under the second word so using that eg Sarah mobile is now under "M" for mobile. It has done this for the 100 or so names I have in so my address book is now almost useless.

There must be a way to sort this without editing each person individually (especially as I am not yet speedy on the touch screen). Can anyone help please?

There is options for sort order and display order and we have set them to "first name first" on both.

If you go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars then scroll down to Contacts you will see the option to change both the Sort Order and Display Order to First, Last or Last, First so change this over and you should be fine.

I had set this to first last on both diaplay and sort options. If I go to send a text and type in "J" rather than John or Jim or James etc coming up it displays "Anna and James" as the first "J"!!! I want that to come under "A".

I want to love my new phone but not feeling it yet!!!
