Hi, son here. Data tank hasn't been plugged in for the last couple of days since the problem started (in order to protect it). The software itself has never been a problem before and has worked fine on the computer for the past 3 years that I've had it installed. Once I uninstalled it, it prompted me to restart the computer (which I did) and now the mouse and keyboard won't work on the home page. I have tried to restart the computer at last good configuration, and still the mouse will not move. The wireless console for the mouse and keyboard is still picking them up, they're just not moving on screen.

RE mouse and keyboard, I have unplugged them, and tried them in all the usb slots that are available on the computer. I even tried an old wired mouse and still no response.

The mouse and keyboard are wireless ones? Can you borrow some hardwired ones? (personally I never touch wireless things)

I have tried a corded mouse and keyboard, neither of which are working. When I turn on the computer I am able to get onto options by pressing F8, and able to scroll up/down etc. As soon as it gets passed this stage and gets to the start up page where I choose my profile, the mouse and keyboard are not responding. As I said in the previous post, the wireless console is still picking them up as the infra red light is blinking when I use them. It's just not moving on the screen.

Just can't understand why uninstalling said software has caused this to happen.

    You and me both

I do apologise, but this is not supposed to happen

Im at a bit of a loss as to what to suggest now

Does the desktop load at all? If so, does it respond to CTRL+ALT+DEL (Task manager).

Do you have the operating system disc (If so id suggest running a 'repair')

    Hellooo!

Thank you for all your help - it was going really well and no need to apologise - the advice you gave was brilliant. Maybe it wasn't even anything to do with the software being uninstalled - prob find it was something unrelated! We still can't access desktop (been trying different things all day) so we have decided to get the chap back who installed it etc. See if he can fix it here (hopefully) or let him take the beastie away for a thorough clean, restore and TLC! Son's a bit gutted as he was in the middle of an animation job which has quite a tight deadline but hey ho these things happen (and always on a bank hol weekend!!).

As it is we are all computered out now! So have poured a couple of lagers and going to have some chill out time! Son passes on his thanks also to you. Will update with the conclusion when pc is hopefully fixed and we find out what the problem was.

    Many thanks once again.

    Hi aliEnRIK!

Just a wee note to let you know computer is up an running now and all is well! It actually went into disaster zone (nothing to do with uninstalling that programme). So sorry - it seems it was a combination of the virus attack plus more etc. We had our guy round to sort it, he took it away and even he admitted he was struggling!! But he got there in the end and all is well. Anyway, its beaut now, son is happy, me too. Just want to say thanks for your help, we didnt have a clue and its thanks to the likes of your goodself that we learn and take note!

Many thanks once again for taking the trouble to reply to us and for your help and advice. :) xx
