The LA has sent the deposit to the owner. I will get my deposit back from the owner very shortly. Off to a new property very soon.

Thanks to all the posters, it is very encouraging to get good advice and feel you're not alone.
Kind regards and a Happy New Year0 -
I bet you don't see your deposit for a long time.....0

Thanks for updating the thread.
Do remember to take dated photos of everything when you leave the property - including inside white goods if provided by the LL, on top of cupboards & shelves, down the lav, inside the bath and so on.
If LL wishes to make any deductions he will need to propose them in writing to you and you can then challenge via the tenancy deposit scheme if you think you have grounds to do so.
Good luck in your new home.0 -
No. The landlord has to return your deposit.
When you originally moved in you paid a deposit to the landlord VIA his agent. Whether the agent did/didn't pass it on to the landlord, or did/din't put it in a scheme, is not your problem. It is the LL's problem to sort out with HIS (now ex) agent.
When he sacked the agent, you stayed in the propety. So your original tenancy continued and the the original deposit continued to be the deposit.
When you move out, the landlord has to return your deposit, or justify not doing so by proving damage or rent arrears.
Getting the deposit back from the agent and/or schem is the LANDLORD'S problem, not yours.0 -
Hi
Just to let you guys know, that I got my deposit back from the owner. Not straight forward, as she wanted me to sign the form from my deposits.co.uk saying I had already received it. Certainly not, threatened with dispute and a cheque was in the post.
All sorted, form returned.
