Car Hire - Marseille Airport

I'm flying to Marseille at the end of September and need to hire a car. I'm trying to find out what security deposit any of the car hire companies take on your credit card once you collect the car.

Does anybody know as last time I was in Biarritz they only charged 1 euro whereas the time before they charged 1000 euros!!

Obviously I'd like to be able to spend the money on my card if I'd like!

Any help would be much appreciated as I really want to get the car booked.
