Sending by Parcel Force

Hiya

I have sold a couple of things on ebay, but this is the first time I am selling something that will be sent via Parcel Force.

Has anyone ever used it, and how does it work for casual users. Will they collect from my house or do I have to take it to them (the post office ?)

Would appreciate any advise.

  • I think it's cheaper if you take the item to the PO. It's just like sending normal mail... only heavier.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • Check with your local post office before taking it in. Only certain post office's offer the Parcel Force service. It's mainly the small Sub Post Office's that dont.

You could also get quotes from online companies like http://www.pharos-international.co.uk/ These people use UPS and can be cheaper than Parcelforce. They pick up from your house; you need to book it in the morning for that afternoon's collection. £60 insurance is included and extra insurance can be bought cheaply if needed.

In my experience ICL, intial city link have been very good on big items. 10kg and above.

The company I worked for i nmy prior job used ICL for their goods and our relationship wasnt great. But for single items Ive never had an issue. The posted around 100 guitars for me, all next day, all for only £14 which is a lot cheaper than royal mail which offered the same service for £21 providing the item was under 10kg.
  • You'll not find any cheaper than this service http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PAYPERDROP-PARCEL-SHIPPERS-UK-EUROPE-INTERNATIONAL_W0QQitemZ150034993314QQihZ005QQcategoryZ317QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
They seem to run a reliable service with over 600 pos feedback in the last month and no negs. I'm using this service for the 1st time myself today. I will let you all know how it goes and which delivery company they use.

Given the choice, I'd always go for ParcelForce delivery. This is mainly because I'm at work when couriers deliver, and PF always seem to have a closer pick-up point than most others.

I made a !!!! up on my first parcel - didn't fill out the booking form. They cleared up my mistake quickly (Office hours). Arranged 5 different deliveries and they were all picked up by DHL 24 and delivered the next day.

Their feedback shows they must be providing a great service at a great price - and hey, we're here to save money.
