Heat pump air

Hi, can anyone help. we have a 3 year old calorex heat pump that heats a small 12ft swimming pool. The kids no longer use the pool and i was wondering if i could reuse/adapt the pump to provide underfloor heating for the kids shed/den that is in the garden. Any advice would be great.

I don't know about the adaptation, but if the shed is a single skin wooden structure then surely the heat loss from that is going to make it fairly pointless? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi,
appreciate thought however it is more of a cabin that is insulted with cedar shingle roof.0 -
And fill in the swimming pool?
You are still going to need it to heat the pool.
Install a manifold next to the heat pump, so one flow/return pair goes to the shed, and one pair goes to the swimming pool.
Still, it all seems a tad over-pampering. They need heating for a few weeks this year, and then it's onto something else. If it was me, I would just put a portable gas heater or electric bar heater in there.0 -
Hi. We will take the pool out and as only semi sunk and easy to fill in. I wanted to try and reuse the heat pump and thought if i could use it to underfloor heat the log cabin it would be ideal. The "new kids den" would probably need heating for 5 months of the year and is an insulated log cabin 15ftx18ft. Hopefully the kids will then have somewhere to hang with their mates!
I could sell the pump but prefer to reuse. Any ideas please.0 -
A heat pump for a swimming pool is designed to heat a large volume of water just a few degrees - say from low 20's to mid 20'sC in summer.
To heat one room, it would need to be adapted to heat a small amount of water from very low temperature in winter to at least 35C for underwater heating. Even if it could be adapted it would need to run pretty continuously to keep the water at the right temperature - which is hardly needed for a playroom.
Most heat pumps for use in conservatory etc are air to air, not air to water, and thus provide 'instant' heat. Would this be your best line of approach?0 -
Yes, thinking about it you are right. Hoped i could re use it. But probably best to try and sell it and heat kids den another way. thanks0

Sell the heat pump and the money you make back get an air to air heat pump installed... they have air con in the summer too then!

I have one at home... depending on the size you need I am not sure you might get away with the smaller one.
