  • I noticed that the security guards in my local job centre were not wearing their SIA licence identity badges. Which is a breach of the terms of the issue.

I would look for that and if you dont see one tell them to display it on their person and ask for their SIA number and tell them you will be reporting them for non compliance.

How would that help dane-katie's situation, other than winding people up?
    Gone ... or have I?

I guess I work on the notion - you wind me up I wind you up

    How bizarre!

Were they seeing people at the time, or was it empty and due to 're-open' for appointments at 2pm?

I can't understand why people can't sit and wait if they are early?

I'm probably being thick - is it common for people to loaf around in JCPs?

Nobody bats an eyelid if you turn up early at my local JCP...

It's like that where I am. I would just say I'm here to sign on and just get told to go into the waiting area.

  • I thought a 'waiting area' was just that - somewhere to wait whilst waiting for their appointment!

I always arrive early for appointments...just something that was instilled in me at school (ok more to do with arriving for work or interviews but I do it for appointments too).

I actually go into a panic attack if I am less than 10 minutes early....and complete meltdown if I arrive just 30 seconds late!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

the way they treated you i would have told the press, that should give the manager something to worry about as the dont like publicity. i for one would do it and have done something to our local council when they tried to be bullys, papers and radio, within 2 hrs the council said sorry. some times u just have to do it.:)

Hi there was something in my local newspaper along the same lines as this about 6 months ago.The lady was waiting to see an advisor and had a pre arranged appointment but was told she had to leave due to her being 15mins early and for the safety of staff and other users of the jobcentre:rotfl:How rediculous, the poor woman was pregnant and if I remember rightly only had about 8 weeks left to go before her due date. She refused to go and wait outside and it ended with her breaking down in tears and the police being called:eek::eek:.In the end because of all the fuss made she was deemed to late to be seen by the advisor. Now thats what I call bl**dy stupid. My heart goes out to you OP

same thing happens here too, not allowed in until your appt time, I arrived for mine early, they said I was too early (they had wrong appt time down so wouldn't let me in) and when they eventually did let me in I was told off for being late! Idiots!
