Latvia and Estonia / Copenhagen / Finland / Amsterdam?

I was going to book a weekend break for Mr KG's 30th birthday in August (Mr KG - if you're reading this stop now).
However, we now have to go to a christening in Latvia at the end of July. Whilst we can't really afford the time or money to go to this and take a break for Mr KG's birthday, I would like to try and combine the weekend in Latvia with a couple of days elsewhere (either before or after visiting Latvia).
I was wondering about Estonia, Finland, Copenhagen or Amsterdam. Any other suggested locations or tips for where to get the best prices non flights and hotels?
I know Ryanair does cheap flights to Latvia from Stanstead so will have to either leave from / arrive at Stanstead. However, we live in Glasgow so if we go somewhere else on the way / way back we would consider departing / arriving at any airport from London northwards.

Really sorry, not a clue about the Glasgow to London thing - but have you thought about flying from Manchester?
Copenhagen was lovely when I went there. Quite expensive, but lovely. Their changing of the guard at the Royal palace is great - just a mini version of Buckingham Palace. And of course a walk to the (some say) disappointing statue of the Little Mermaid. I wasn't disappointed as I love that sort of thing.
For hotels, try Hotels Comparison. Friends have used it for European cities and say that it's really good.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Tallinn is probably your best bet - and it is a very nice City. You can fly Ryanair to Riga, Bus or train to Tallinn then fly back to Luton on Easyjet....simple eh !!!0

not sure of whether it's any better but Estonia i.e. Tallinn is just a ferry ride from Helsinki, if you can find a decent flight to Helsinki from closer to Glasgow could do a couple of the places on your list in one go?0

Been to Tallinn before and loved it. Very good for drinking and shopping. Be sure to take US Dollars in cash with you for paying for things. Sterling not that widely accepted .... Should not be a problem since we are now getting more dollars for each pound!0

I've been looking at Tallin myself but never thought of combining it with Helsinki or Riga. I'm going to look into it. When I last looked at Tallin the flights were from London. Does anyone know of flights from up North to any of these cities?
Thanks.0 -
PA You can only reach Tallinn from London Luton at the moment. Helsinki can be reached from Tallinn by either Helicopter (20mins) or Ferries the fastest of which take just over an hour, but no sevice during the Winter months.Use the VT website if you need further info.0

Thanks MT. I though so. Could do Liverpool Luton if the flights tie in. I'll have a look.0

Had a look; 6.45 am out of Luton. No good to me. I'll check out the Riga option.0 -
Found flights from Manchester but its going to cost £460 for 2 via Helsinki. I've looked at hotels on the net and they seem ok and reasonable. Can anyone recommend one?
