Hi after the wind that we have had for last few days and they rain a piece of our shed felting has blown off never to be seen by us again, It needs to be replaced and son who will be doing it has said the whole lot needs replacing. Now he is eager to get this done before Autumn gets here but obviously the roof of the shed is now soaked through(its been heavy rain for 2 days solid practically) .Once the rain finaly stops roughly how long wil it take for the wood to dry out before he can refelt the roof.

very unlikely to dry out in this country at this time of year. you would need a nice hot spell first.
cant see that happening right now!
you may want to budget for replacing the whole roof. OSB board is not too expensive.Get some gorm.0 -
If you cant refelt it soon, then cover it with polythene now to prevent more water ingress. You can refelt it with the boards still damp and they will dry out from within the shed0

I've got the same problem. I went down to Wickes today to buy some shed felt and they had completely sold out. Apparently, they had twenty rolls yesterday.0

Surely if you cover it too much the wood wont dry out and may even go mouldy if its too wet
Touch wood we might get a Indian Summer and it may dry for a few days0 -

You could do what I did with my shed roof and use epdm .Its like a rubber sheet that will last for many years it comes in a sheet so there are no joins to flap up.It costs a little more than roof felt but its a fit and forget solution.http://www.nationalroofing.co.uk/One_Piece_EPDM.php .This isnt the place i got mine from before any wise shmuck says spam its just to give you an idea you could google epdm to find the cheapest0

Err what is OSB board please? Need to do mine again and thinking about a completely new roof with marine ply but I think it may be awkward due to sheet sizes. Looked at the local timber yard and they seem to have replacement fetheredge type boards for the sides but didn't see anything for the roof which is more like a tongue and groove. Also I need 3 x 3 and a bit metres of felt , is it possible to buy in a 10m length as last time I bought 3 x 5m lengths ?0 -
I'd check the roof if I was you as I thought my shed could do with new felt until I checked the roof and found some of the wood soaking wet and comes away in your hand like soggy bread and some of the roof beams you could easily poke a screwdriver through as they where dry and crumbling away.
Got a mate to remove the old roof and redo the whole lot. so do check the roof before you start any work.0 -
^^^ Yup. I got some shedfelt today and started the job. Unfortunately, it looks like the roof has been leaking for some time and the wooden roof will need to be replaced as it's all rotten around the edges. I may just redo the whole lot with corrugated plastic sheet.

My shed is about 3m x 2m brick built with a sloping roof so I did it so it would last as I have my mower and karcher and other bits and bobs in there.0
