ING promo £20 ING085

I opened an ING account with the promo code ING085 which entitles you to £20 free, after 6 weeks they finally tell me that unless ING sent me an invite to bank with them such codes are invalid!!!
I have been told from other such staff at ING previously that the code was!
Is it worth complaining?
Seems to me they are trying to avoid paying.

I seem to remember that all these points were in Martin's email when the promo first came up. Presumably they documented the terms of the promotion somewhere saying that it was by invite only. If it was a genuine promo and you used a hooky code, what is it you would be complaining about ?
Edit: can't find the email, but here's a thread that suggests the terms of the promo were in the public domain at the time...
see posts 12, 14, 16 etc
edit again. Ah, it was a MSE news article, here.
