In todays Evening Standard, page 24, Tech Know is comparing three FM Transmitters for Ipods.
I thought they were illegal.
I had heard that the law was changing, has it happened already?
If they are now legal, are they any good.
Out of interest they are:
Belkin Tunebase FM £60
Griffin itrip audio £40
Newer Roadtrip £20

It's legal to sell them and legal to use them if you have a Wireless and Telegraphy license... There are rumours that they may be legalised - would certainly be a good idea to set out some specs, not as if we're talking megawatt transmitters.0

they are still illegal, though i understand turning a blind eye at the moment.
Should be legal around the end of the year.
I have an iTrip auto and it really is top drawer, used a plain old iTrip before that.
You can also get it for 33 now as well.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -

and if you get stopped by a cop in Amsterdam, it's illegal for them to search you. I mean, that's the right the cops in Amsterdam DON'T have.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
why are the illegal though,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Because they transmit in the FM band and are liable to interfere with legitimate radio stations.0 -
because it breaks the telegraph act as you are basically broadcasting unlicensed.
i would recomend the auto, if i had ever taken it out of the box and used it
i especially might add that the extra freq range on the auto makes a big diff.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -

But surely they'd be breaking advertising guidelines if they put stuff like that on the box and it wasn't correct..0
