Strange ambulance siren when I phone a mobile
Hi all, I wonder if you can help me. When I try to phone a friend of mine mobile, when the phone is ringing I can hear a ambulance siren starting from a distance, getting louder then quieter like going away. It is over the top of the ringing sound you normally get. Get this with my desire and my dad's samsung g600.
Every other number is OK when I ring them with no siren sound. It then goes to voicemail. Anyone heard this before when ringing. Thanks.

Your friend has set this up as his incoming ringing tone, some networks allow you to do this. One of my friends set a Christmas song to his tone last year so whenever you rang his number it played this song until he answered.
Most people find it confusing though as although this isn't particularly new, hardly anyone has it and not many people know about it. That's why on my friend's song the network also superimposed a gentle ring-ring on top of the song so people wouldn't get so confused.
Thoroughly annoying though.
Edit - here is Orange's one called 'Ringtagz' and there is a demo when you load the page up http://orange2.ringtagz.co.uk/0 -
Thanks for that, I was wondering. He must have set it up by accident then as he is 76 and not very tech minded at all...lol. thanks for that though as I have never heard of it before and he is with orange.0

Ah, in that case he might be wise getting it de-activated in case anyone is concerned when they call him. Get in touch with Orange and ask them to turn off Ringtagz.0

I believe T Mobile started it here but there wasn't much take-up as you had to pay for it on top of your tariff. That was a few years ago, though, and it may well be free now.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

I cannot understand why anyone would do it though on purpose. I really don't find them funny, they are as irritating as the school kids on the back of a bus changing their ringtones on the way home whilst everyone else is trying to have a peaceful journey.0
