Plastering/Skimming 3 bedrooms

Any one any idea how much it would cost to replaster (i think it's called skimming) our three bed semi, we want to do the 3 bedrooms, two are double rooms but have built in wardrobes down one wall in the front, and around the corner and one wall in the back. So there's not really much wall to do. Most of the walls are just bumpy with old dado rail holes and picture holes. Have no idea if it's worth getting quotes or will it be lots and therefore I should wait and save a bit more.

Thanks for any ideas.

  • Its always worth getting quote's,I'd say about 3.Are the ceiling's to be done aswell??.If they are you could be looking at anything around £300 mark per doubleroom and maybe £200 for the single. But nearly all plasterers have different prices, thats why its best to get a few quote's in.
  • Totally agree with last comment. It does usually work out around £250 per room.

something to think about - If you end up doing the walls and not the ceilings the new walls can end up making the ceilings look a lot worse by comparison.

Id quote 250 too 300 per room

I'm in London and use a plasterer quite regularly. He's £150 a day plus £50 for his apprentice. For what you are quoting, I would imagine it would take him four to five days - so a total of about £800-£1,000. We think he's good and quite reasonable.
