American buyer says my Royal Doulton is a fake

Help I am just about to go off on holiday and got a very very nasty email from an american buyer saying my Royal Doulton figurine is a fake as the skin colour is too pale She says she contacted Royal Doulton In America and they cofirmed it is a fake (it isn't but that is beside the point ) She is a very angry lady and going to do a charge back How do I get the ornament back Any ideas

Ok, first of all did it have all the backstamps? Secondly, were the backstamps scratched in any way? This would indicate a factory seconds. Thirdly, where did you get it from in the first place? This may help prove authenticity.

Have a read here and see if any of it rings true for you!

The next thing to do is turn the tables on your buyer. Tell her that you will accept a return of the figure and issue a refund when she produces proof from Royal Doulton in america. I suspect she wont be able to do this and hopefully that will be the end of it.

Make sure you ask her to provide written proof on the companies headed paper!

The figure is Cynthia bought in the 70s or early 80s
  • Paypal or Ebay wont consider her claim unless she has authentic written verification from a specialist that your figure is fake.
I believe, correct me if I am wrong, that Ebay will contact the dealer in question.
I doubt she will have this.
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j
