Hello OP,
Just another post to echo most of those above - don't worry, as long as your child seems to have a good relationship with the teacher concerned.
There are many positives; I'm a Year 5 teacher, but taught Year 4 previously so in the school year just gone, I had five pupils for the second year running. (The classes were re-jigged between years, which is why it was only five.)
I can honestly say that there were no negatives.
As a teacher I felt lucky to know these children already, and as the classes had been changed around I think the children felt secure and calm to be with the same teacher again and know how my classroom systems work.
I also made sure I covered any gaps in those children's learning - it's much easier to look at their progress when you already have a good knowledge of the child's character.
And in case you were wondering, I found that with some of these children, I totally changed my view of their personalities during the second year...I wasn't relying on my original knowledge of them.
At the risk of sounding rather nauseating, I'd have to say that these children's education was enriched by being in my class for the second year running. I had and still have a special relationship with them, and am already looking forward to them popping in to see me when term starts. I know they will, even from the heady heights of Year 6!

In my little primary school there were only 3 classes.....infants, bottom half of juniors, top half of juniors. This meant I had the same teacher for all 3 years of infants. When I finished class2 (bottom juniors) the teacher moved to the top juniors class so all through primary school I only had 2 teachers......and loved it! It'll be fine I'm sure.0

Hi OP
My DS had the same teacher in reception class and then again in Year 2 (he goes in to Year 3 in September with a different teacher) so not consecutive years but only one school year in between.
She is a really good teacher so had no concerns.
In fact DD has her for Year 2 in September and she can't wait (she is one of the popular teachers with the kids
and she's a really good teacher)
The teachers at our school frequently move between the year groups so I had assumed this was the norm.
Either way I wouldn't think there was is reason for you to worry

Our school has some children who will have the same teacher again. I personally would not happy with that at all, my DS1 teacher has made some judgements on my child im not happy with and we've come to blows a couple of times. There is no way she would teach my child without treating him differently from the rest of the class and at nearly 7 he really needs to be getting the most from school.

Yes I think obviously if OP is happy with the teacher then there is nothing to worry about.
Sounds like a completely different kettle of fish in your case:eek:0 -
Our sons school seems to shuffle some each year so some kids do get the same teacher more than once although not always consecutive years - DS1's best friends older brother (if you can follow that) had the same teacher in reception and then in Yr2 with a year off in between. DS1's reception teacher had been in line for that Y2 class so it was a straight swap - we've not had any problems with having a reception teacher who wasn't teaching that year immediately before.
I suspect they move them around to stop them getting stale - it must be hard if you teach the same stuff year after year to either keep that sounding fresh or motivate yourself to rewrite all the lesson plans with no obvious reason to do so.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
DS has just finished year 1. His Yr 1 teacher was the same as his reception teacher.
He loved her and learned loads over the 2 years. She did brilliantly with the change of Key Stage.
All is well!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

My daughter will end up having the same teacher two years running for next year and the year after as she's in a class with the daughter of one of the teachers in the school so when they WOULD have been going into the teachers class (yr 5) then she and the yr 6teacher are swapping.
They also did a swap with two other teachers one year but not to classes next to each other (I think it was year 1 and year 3 swapped)0 -
DD had it with every school year as her school was so small it taught 2 years together, so year 1 and 2 were taught by one teacher, 3 and 4 by another etc. It was the norm in her school and she developed really good, close relationships with the staff (and still has despite being in High School she occasionally nips back)
DS went to a different primary and ended up with Mr B for 3 years, this was the best outcome for all as Mr B was a very good teacher with whom everyone got along, parents included.0
