  • i'm another one to agree to the old saying - baby will come when ready.

with dd she was 2 days late so no biggie,

ds was 8 days late - he was firmly staying put, i drank red raspberry leaf tea from 34 weeks, bounced on the ball etc etc , i was 40+1 and hubby had gone out for the night (the first time in a year) and we were joking saying i would probably have to ring as i will go into labour...

he was out half an hour when i had to ring him - not because i had gone into labour, but i had fallen down the stairs and broke my coccix (sp?) i had landed flat on my bottom which also caused ds to move right up into my chest and wind me for what felt like minutes. anyway after frantic ringing of the in laws and phoning around to find hubby, we got to hospital and they did all the checks they needed to and baby was fine (he's now 3) and the dr turned around and said to me '' you'll more than likely go into labour now'' so he sent me home and made sure i took it easy,

i was so looking forward to going into labour then - it didnt start for another week!! and for that whole week i tried mostly everything - i think if it works its just a coincidence thing, they will come when good and ready

neneromanova - dd was 2 days late and was 6lb2 (she was an ickle thing) and ds was 8 days late and only 7lb10 x

I went at 38 weeks with my first at 41 weeks with my second (40 weeks with the third so figure this time 39 weeks should complete the set)

  • I went 16 days over with Ds and had been booked in to be induced the following day. I started labour just before my uncles funeral and DH couldnt carry his coffin. My parents found out DS was born just as everyone said a final goodbye to my uncle.
I had tried everything to get him out he was just happy in there. I was also told he would be 9 pounds plus he was 7 pounds 7
Wishing you a quick labour xx

nero- DD1 was 16 days late and 8lb5oz

    dd2 was 10 days late and 7lb6oz.

Late babies aren't always huge so don't worry, and even though DD1 was nearly a pound heavier the pushing stage was 1/2 the time and she was my first.
  • I was told my DS was ready to make an appearance, all the signs were there 2 weeks before his due date. That came and went, i was told to try accupuncture... DS spun around to breach position after that!

In the end DS was 15 days late and wieghed in at 9lbs 8oz, after they told me to expect an 11lb-er.

Fingers crossed my little tummy nugget due in april doesent have the same ideas about being late to his/her own party!

Hope you have a nice easy fast labour when LO does decide to make an appearance. :)

    Hi,

I'm not overdue, but i did go 12 days over with DS (after having had DD 14 days early!!). I just wanted to pass on my best wishes to you all, once baby is here the extra waiting is (almost) forgetten!!!
Angela84 - last year when DS was born paternity leave could not start until the day baby was born, now it may have changed but i would get your hubby to check as he may have to put off the leave for a few days.

  • I went in to be induced at term +10 (7.30am on a Thursday) and my son wasn't born until term +12 (7.54am on the Saturday) so be aware that even if you get that far it doesn't necessarily mean that baby will be here soon!

Although in my case, Benjamin managed to keep me in labour for the WHOLE of Friday 13th - he clearly didn't want that superstition attached to his birthday!!

Hope it all goes well for you and you get the birth you want xx

Angela: I started having signs of labour at 36 weeks, I am now 11 days overdue with no sign of baby coming anytime soon naturally. I am being induced tomorow. TBH I haven't had the best pregnancy, and the last *almost* 2 weeks have been hell, everything hurts/ aches, I feel so down all the time and generally had enough. I am against inductions, but I am going for it as I really cannot cope anymore, I am constantly in pain and want this over with! I feel like my MW left me to it, and didn't offer sweeps/ etc unless I begged for them (I've now had 2!)

As for inducing labour yourself; nothing works TBH, I tried eating curry, raspberry leaf tea, walking, squats, pineapple, and everything else. The only thing that seems to kick something off is sex, but you need lots of it for any effect!!

Both of mine were 11 days overdue. Both arrived the day after a sweep, so keep your fingers crossed for tonihgt! try to avoid being induced if you can it often means a long labour

You're not overdue untill 42 weeks though, ladies, you're just in the latter stages of a NORMAL length pregnancy!
I found that the mere threat of induction got DD moving and she was born at home as planned at 41+6, weighed 7lbs. I think she needed that bit of extra cooking time to get her weight up a bit. DS was born at 41 weeks and weighed 8lbs, but I think that he'd been bigger and lost weight as his skin looked two sizes too big and he put on 30lbs in his first 3 weeks. THey come when they're ready. Oh, and the offer of induction is just that-an offer. If you're not happy with the idea you can just decline.

    Have a great birth!
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
