    I think the offence was not displaying a valid ticket. Buying it wasn't in dispute so proving it was bought may not help the OP.

    Having said that, its always worth appealing bearing in mind that many fines double after the initial time allowed to pay them. Perhaps it would be better to pay the fine and then challenge it later?

    Pepipoo.com is a great website for parking fines so it might be worth posting on there too.

    No, never even think of doing that - once you've paid the fine you have admitted liability.

    But as I said earlier on, appeal within the first 14 days counting the PCN issue date as day one, and the OP can then decide whether to formally appeal if they refuse the informal one.

    Agree with you about pepipoo.com forums, they can get people off most Council PCNs.
    PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
