Phunkles weddings can be as expensive as you want to make them. Our cost approximately £5000. I got my wedding dress at Debenhams, we got married in a lighthouse, we provided transport for all our guests to the wedding, the afternoon reception, and the evening do as well. We had a free bar at the afternoon do, and a free drink for each guest for the evening toast. We had 2 wedding cakes ( a sandcastle and a campervan), 2 bridesmaids (dresses, bolero jackets, bags and shoes paid for by us), and 2 photographers (not intentionally I hasten to add!) I made our wedding invitations but ordered the evening ones from a website. I made goodie bags for all the kids and made all our table decorations. They looked great considering I am in no way arty.
The trick is to work out which bits of the wedding are the most important to you, cut out the bits you don't like or aren't bothered about, then shop around and work out how you can cut your costs without losing out on what you want. We didn't have flowers for table decorations as flowers are incredibly expensive. Nor did I have flowers for my bridesmaids. It was going to cost £40 each for a boquet for them! Instead I bought them a small bag each from Debenhams which I filled with confetti and they loved them - they cost £10 each, a saving of £60.
With our photographer we arranged a deal with him to take the photos and to put them onto disc so that we could print off any photos we wanted, and we created our own wedding album via a website. We ended up with 2 photographers as our photographer had a friend who wanted to branch out into wedding photography and asked if he could use us for his portfolio, so we got his photos for free as an added bonus!
We paid for dance lessons, which was an absolute waste of money as we ended up doing the dreaded 'couple shuffle' anyway. It's the one thing I regret spending money on.
At the end of the day it isn't about how much you can spend, it is about you and your OH. We wanted our wedding to represent us and who we are so we didn't really go for the traditional stuff (hence the wedding cakes). BTW as soon as you mention the word wedding the price sky rockets, so it is best to try not to unless you have to when dealing with suppliers. HTH :money: If you're on facebook I can add you as a friend and you will be able to see some of our wedding pics.
I've not been posting much as I haven't got anything interesting to addAF is due next weekend so really hoping she doesn't show this month and we get our BFP!
