  • Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask, but....

I've just come off the pill after 14 months on it - only had one period while on it (bliss) so am now unsure when to expect AF......

    what would you expect?

I started charting again the day after my MC was confirmed and ovulated about eight days after I stopped bleeding. (But mine was very uncomplicated and didn't require any medical intervention.) If it had worked out I would have based caluclations as if I'd ovulated on day 14.

Also, I was wondering since I noticed you're in Durham and I am too (and feel free to ignore this if you want to) whether you went to UHND with your MC and if so, how you found them? The reason I ask is that I found them so appalling I put in a formal complaint six weeks ago and I'm wondering if (and hoping) it was any better for you? (But if you don't want to talk about it, just ignore my question.)

yes i went to UHND i was only 5.5 wks and hadnt had preg confirmed by docs yet so ended up going to out of hours doc. and yes they were appaling. i had took 4 home tests a week apart all of which were positive so i was sure i was preg but couldnt get an appointment at docs till the following friday. anyway started bleeding lightly on the tues rang nhs direct who sent me to out of hours. once there nurse did test and after a long wait (long story) the trainee doc saw me her first words were ' the nurse has done a test and its negative so if you were pregnant your not now. so how does that make you feel' after that i was sent away without any idea of what was going to happen. all in all a traumatic experience made 10 times worse. i kept my appointment at local surgery for fri and talked everything through with doc there.
its interesting that you ovd quickly i feel as if im about to ov and iv started temping if my af had come when it was supposed to i would of been oving in next couple of days but i was expecting to count first day of mc as cd1 which puts me at cd7 if i hadnt mc i would of been on cd17 and usually ov cd18/19 im very confused by it all.

:( That's terrible. I hate the way they call into doubt whether you were pregnant in the first place. If it happened to me again and I thought I needed to be seen I'd go to Darlington instead. This is my complaint letter but I'm still awaiting a response.

I think the earlier you miscarry the less disruption to ovulation. I just started charting the day after MC was confirmed and ignored the cycle day numbers. (But I have a much wider range of ovulation than two days so usually go more on symptoms than on counting days anyway.)

  • hi susan how do i read your letter its just showing blank pg. i think staff should be trained better yes mc is common 1 in 4 apparently but that doesnt make it any less heartbreaking when it happens to you.

You have to highlight it. (I did it in white text which has to be highlighted to be read so that nobody would accidentally read it without wanting to.)
