Most optimum time I read is 2 days before ovulation. This gives swimmers enough time to swim up to the fallopian tubes to meet the egg. I personally would say on ovulation day is a bit late as thats a long old way to go to meet it.

    Thanks Emsbet!

Have had a look at FF just now and it looks really good. Just need to input my data now!

Until starting TTC I didn't realise it was so hard to get a BFP! Nor did I realise that you could do so much to help yourself!

    You're welcome! :)

There is so much you can learn about TTC and it can be quite daunting initially. I think the key is to try take on as much information as you can but try not to get overwhelmed by it as this will only lead to stress which is no good for TTC.
I love FF it's so helpful and there is so much information on there.

    xx

I guess the blood test wont be able to determine that though will it and the only way of knowing would be that lap and dye procedure thingy.
Yes, you need lap & dye, HSG or hycosy:o

The temping/charting aims to predict when ovulation is about to occur?
It only confirms ov after the event. Not good for TTC, but good for knowing when to stop BD:p

Temp rises after ov and stays up until AF.
The OPKs detect the surge of a hormone (?) that comes with ovulation?
OPK detects the LH hormone which surges 12-36hs prior to ov.
BD-ing on the day before, that day or the day after is the best to catch the eggie?
Yes, sometimes LH can surge again after the 1st surge, so it's better to keep BDing until the temp stays high for at least 3 days.
My Basal thermometer whotsit arrived this morning (just as I was going out the door, sigh) so I shall be trying to work out FF from tomorrow. I listened to the presentation clips last night which was stuff I kinda already knew but is always good to confirm what I already know!
Good luck:) Remember to do it 1st thing in the morning, without moving etc. Also place it under you tongue on the same side very morning, at the same time:cool:

I'll have to have a look at the FF website. Glad to hear it's free. How are you able to see other people's charts once you're on it? Do you use the same username there?
We can share the link of our charts by pasting the link here and also by clicking the 'Add to friends' on FF:)
Well, since my last post on Monday, I've had a temperature surge and this has contiuned for the last 3 days so I'm crossing my fingers (and everything else!) that this means I've ov'd!! We bd'd around the time I ov'd as well so we'll see what happens in the next 14 days.
    Sounds good:)
When's the earliest you can take a HPT? This means I'm now 4 DPO.
    Usually at 14DPO. Good luck:j

Fingers crossed for you MrsE - I'm guessing you'll be sitting nervously in the waiting room at the moment.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • Hey all

Firstly congrats to all the BFPs, fingers crossed for all the TLPs and hugs for all the AFs

I came home from work today to the dreaded smear invite letter :( do you think it would be worth mentioning to the doc at the same time that we're TTC and really not getting anywhere, I know we've only been officially TTCing since Jan however we did stop contraception back in Aug/Sept, so it would be 10 months trying at the time of my appointment :o

On a positive note, with TTC taking longer than planned we've been able to save more and viewed a beautiful house at the weekend that would be perfect for little nippers, it is at the higher end of our budget but i'm working on OH :D

I'm out with mates tonight so won't be able to post again today but I just wanted to let you all know. Thanks for your lovely thoughts. Please keep your fingers crossed that this one sticks.

Good afternoon everyone, have just noticed that I've not posted in ages although I read the thread every day looking out for those lovely BFP's :j

I have started temping every morning and now using FF, boy is that site addictive, I look at my chart every which way possible :rotfl: It tells me I am now CD18 and 6DPO.:D

So, not much to report from here, hope everyone has a lovely weekend with this glorious weather :T
