o2 Phone Offer By Text
Hi,
Received a text today from o2 offering me something or other phone on PAYG for £149.99.
It gave a weblink which was apparently for the o2 site (o2.co.uk) with a number to call 2220 to stop messages. Now I was under the impression to stop texts you would text STOP to a specific number rather than call them but figured I may as well call it and got a number not recognised or thereabouts response.
I am aware CS is 2202 so it wasn't that number and now being on Giffgaff that may be the reason it didn't work but is this some kind of scam as I have never received any phone sales texts like this before.
Anyone else had this recently/today?

It looks like the number to opt in and out to the o2 marketing texts.
a quick google came up with a post on the O2 forum.

The number is also mentioned on the o2 blog in the comments

I guess I'm stuffed then, number ported to Giffgsff but no way to actually stop it (2202 and 2220 don't work)
May give o2 CS a ring tomoroow to stop them sending ANYTHING to my mobile.
Many thanks for the response though.0
