If the radio model is a CDR500 then it is a SIEMENS/VDO/DELCO make and the code will not be available for free from anywhere on the Internet.

Reread my previous answer to your query..... I don`t tell lies !

You have to use a Serial Number beginning with C7000000**** in your downloaded calculator....and no other number !

If you have no barcode serial number ...then unfortunately no free code

Entering wrong serial numbers ....generates wrong codes ...which only locks up your radio

Sorry I think you misunderstood what I was asking. I paid for and was sent some software to generate codes. However although it has generated a code I cant enter it as my radio is not showing the 4 dashes to allow me to enter it. That is my question what buttons would I press on a Clarion to allow me to enter it or have I messed it up completely. Thank you for your help but it seems even if I pay for a code I wont be able to enter it. Please dont think I am calling you a liar I am just having a menopausal bad day today. So if I have entered too many wrong codes how do I proceed

That's brilliant, thanks very much! No, he didn't charge. I rung first and asked if they had the tools for it, and he sort of mentioned that if I dropped by he'd do it. I just went over and said "I rung earlier..." and he couldn't really refuse. Thanks again. I'm going to write this down somewhere safe this time for future reference.

There should be a 14 character Serial Number (usually beginning with
BP ************ ) found somewhere on the radio .... quite often stamped in the metal casing.

    Yes, you are absoluteley right!
    it says BP277 497 836 997
  • Many thanks to molerat!

I am trying to offer you the best free option but you did appear to ignore it..

As I read it , you asked here for a code...I replied with what serial number was required ...then you seemed to ignore my answer and bought yourself a calculator and tried to generate codes using the main serial number CL0402Y0451795.

You cannot...repeat cannot generate ANY working code for your Clarion radio unless you have a barcode Serial Number beginning with C7000000**** to enter into the calculator you have purchased.

The other Serial Number on your radio CL0402Y0451795 will be used by your Main Dealer (or one of the very large Professional Decode Services ) to look up the code on the original factory database....which is NOT commercially available. It can only be used on this factory database and definitely cannot be used in the Clarion Calculator that you have purchased.

I was only try to tell you that you will be wasting your money+time by purchasing a Clarion Calculator or asking anywhere else if you do not have this barcode Serial Number.

You are using up all your radio code "lives" by entering wrong codes .

You can reset it back to accepting codes by leaving it SWITCHED ON ...UNDISTURBED until it automatically resets itself....This may take up to 24 hours.(assuming you have not entered an excessive number of wrong codes. If you have then the radio will be permanently locked)

Once reset , I would not risk paying at your Main Dealer (unless you can "blag" it it for free ) because they are unlikely to offer any refund if the given code does not work.
I would suggest taking your radio into a Decoding Service or a local Car Radio / Audio Shop and let them plug it into a laptop to read/recode the memory chip(EEPROM) .
This only takes a few minutes and the cost is usually £10 upwards ( for 5 minutes work !)

If they want to charge any more, then it might be more economical to purchase a replacement radio with a code ( from Ebay etc )

Good luck ...and keep smiling :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
