Gah I've been down in the car with the coathangers trying to get that bleedin' stereo out to get the code, no dice. There's no way to get the code without the M number?

Not without the M number. What car is it ? Could try pressing 6 then 2 together to see if it comes up on the screen. BTW, don't push the coathangers in too hard as it will stop you from pulling it out ;)

It's a T reg mondeo, I think the stereo is an Eon 3000. I've probably gone way beyond with the coathangers, ramming them in every which way in my frustration.
The annoying thing is that this happened a few years ago, I got the code then on an eBay forum. I wish I'd written it down!
I'm noticing a lot of the codes on here have 7s, 8s and 9s in, when my stereo only goes up to 6?
Rang Halfords and the guy there says he could pop out with the pins and have a go, hopefully gratis.
Is there a limit to the number of times I can enter codes, if it comes to that?

You are limited to 10 goes at first (come back for more advice if you get to that).

Switch the radio on and the word CODE should appear in the display
Repeatedly press button 1 until the correct first digit of the code is displayed.
Repeatedly press button 2 until the correct second digit of the code is displayed.
Repeatedly press button 3 until the correct third digit of the code is displayed.
Repeatedly press button 4 until the correct fourth digit of the code is displayed.
Once the code has been correctly selected on the radio's display, press button 5 to enter.
