Have you tried connecting the speaker to a different pair of tags...just in case the pair you were using are faulty ?

The only other thing I can think it might be is fully locked due to far too many wrong codes being entered.

You did say that the display does not work so this is a possibility.

I am still a little puzzled that it switches itself off as in my experience, wiring it up on a workbench battery supply usually means that it stays on.all the time.

Have you tried it on the workbench without pressing AS at the same time ...just in case it makes a difference.

Another thing to try is switching it ON with Preset Buttons 1 and 4 pressed together ( or if that fails try Preset 1 and other buttons inclusing the Presets and the FM button ) as on some models this can reset the timer ( but I don`t really think this works on the Philips , only on a similar Blaupunkt model...but it`s worth trying

My story is similar to those above- garage disconnected battery and now radio does not work. Car bought second hand and code in book that was supplied does not work
