Pressing 6&1 or 6&2 may bring the serial on the screen. The serial will be clearly in the form M123456 or V654321, if an older (Ford Sound 2000 ?) unit it may begin with A, L or C but will always have 6 numbers after it. The serial is also often etched into the side of the casing.

I'm pretty impressed with how this thread has been kept alive since 2007. Many thanks to the good guys here for being such great help.

I got a second hand Ford Mondeo imported from Germany last month and for the life of me, cannot interpret the manual. I also doubt the code is in it as I can't seem to see any 4-digit number.
