Do you really think I will give a different answer here about obtaining a code for a VDO CDR500E using the Serial Number? Can somebody help me with the code on this unit I removed from an Astra please. Vauxhall want £28 for a car pass (assuming it is still the same radio from the factory!)!
Details are:
Siemens VDO 330886636
No: 24 469 305
Model: CDR 500 (E)
Serial Number: GM050031930530
Any help with the 4-digit code would be greatly appreciated.
@RegWorts - You replied on Legija's Unlock Forum that I'm unlikely to find the code free or cheap online & may have to decode the unit or bite the bullet & pay the Vauxhall main dealer price. Is it worth still trying to find a Vauxhall radio code database, or ask on other similar forums online, or am I just wasting my time?
Main Dealer , Radio Decoding Service or buy a replacement radio with a working code are the only solutions ...and unlikely to be free or cheap anywhere on the Internet.
A local Decoding Service is perhaps the best option as you will end up with a guaranteed working radio usually for around £200 -
Thanks RegWorts, that's really good of you, your help is much appreciated.:T0

hi peeps just thought id give you a follow up on my previous request for a code on a ford smax, which is a V code.and as said on here its a closed shop for the info.
my local dealer wanted £15 to take the stereo out to get the serial number and generate the code.
local stereo shop wanted in excess of £45 for the same thing:think:
original dealer which were miles away from me were basically said the same as my local dealer.
so after posting on here and various car forums i help run,all to no avail.
so this morning i decided to change tack, phoned up the supplying and very politely said i had bought the car new and i had to have a new battery fitted over the weekend(that bits true) and now needed the code,LO AND BEHOLD very nice chap kindly said 'lets see' and yep here you go.
so jobs a gooden F.O.C
so peeps might be worth changing the way you ask?worked for me.
