If that isnt right serial number where do i find correct one?? :S

It is highly unlikely that your radio has been recoded to a different code number because FORD codes are readily available from a variety of sources.

9333 is the correct code for the Serial Number quoted M00857...but is this the Serial Number that is actually on the radio or is it the one quoted in the car`s paperwork ?.

Quite often they can be completely different !...Worth checking.

Next make sure that you are entering the code correctly.

    What does the display say?

    1...before you start
    2...after each digt
3..after you have pressed the final button.

    Thanks for your reply,
1...The display shows the timer countdown, then shows 'enter code'
2...After each digit it shows the code as entered so far
3...after pressing button 5 to enter the code the display goes back to the timer and starts countdown again.
The code I gave is indeed the one quoted on the documentation in the car, is there a method for obtainig the serial no. without removing the unit? I read somewhere on here that it was possible on certain units?

    Any suggestions, thanks again.
  • my serial is M339770
    ford radio 6000cd

    thanks in advance

For those that have the 4500 series - you dont have to remove the stereo from the car. Hold down '6' and then press '2'. This will display your S/No. without the hassle of removing it. ;)

I suspect that you are using the wrong code + Serial Number.

Try pressing buttons 1 + 6 ...but I doubt if it will provide the information you require.

The radio will have to be extracted from the dashboard to read the Serial Number on a label on the casing.

Proper extractors are available from Ebay or Car Radio Shop (or here www.ukbookshelf.co.uk ) ...but an alternative method is to use 2 pieces of bent coathanger or 4 small drills or Allen keys or nails or small screwdrivers or even darts !
