Thanks RegWorts for a very speedy reply. I pressed 1 and 6 together and got the following in a couple of screens:
MGP DJS 4-08 05-08-03

I hope this means something to you. Otherwise I'll have to take it back to the Ford dealer because it was Ford's mistake.

Sorry...this is not the required Serial Number.

This means you will have to remove the radio from the dashboard and post the SERIAL NUMBER found on a label on the casing
