Over the phone she only got 040502 and masses of numbers/letters including 'radio 4'.
It's a Sony Generation 2 device

Sorry, what i should say is that trying to get my wife to find it via the phone, with numbers 6 & 1 she only got 040502 and masses of numbers/letters including 'radio 4'.

You need to find the correct No. . Have you checked the handbook for the car or radio?. The only sure way is to remove the radio from the dash:
